What traits of yours are you thankful to your past selves for?

On some rare occasions I do the mental exercise of thinking of the past in third person. Would things be better if "he" would have never existed? I'm fully conscious that traits and habits are developed over the course of many lifetimes, but due to lack of information I' ll only refer to one. Anyway, a lot of things I like about myself now are actually "his" traits or a direct consequence.

_ Long term optimism: I may be a short term pessimist, but for some mysterious reason I can't help feeling that in the end everything will solve itself out and be fine. This will always keep me going. If he didn't have that as well he would have killed himself. So it's most likely an inherited trait.

_ "Weird" creativity, resourcefulness and problem solving: I have a lot of ideas, they may not always work or I may not put enough effort into them, but for every problem I can come up with a million creative solutions. From creating "innovative" machines to come up with hypotheses, and other ways to solve issues, I'm pretty sure that's his as well.

_ Documented material: if you don't write it, you lose it. If you write it, you can read it 10 years after or in your next life. Thank you. Whether they are old posts from a few years ago or very old entries from another lifetime, re-reading myself is always informational.

_Ability to re-invent myself over and over: from what I gather this goes beyond one lifetime, and while sometimes it may be out of necessity, it's also in a way, a pleasure. For the last 200 years at least I kept moving from place to place, learning a million different languages and working in a lot of different jobs. While growing up for some reason I thought I was adverse to change, what was I thinking?? I' m actually adverse to routine and stagnation, not to change. I can live in a different country for a day and feel that I've been there all my life.

_Philosophical tendencies: While I have yet to find positive proof of metaphysical thinking in the past (besides things that other people say I said), the fact that I was questioning reality from a very young age in this life suggests that it' s not something new. I know for a fact that I was interested in philosophy, I' m just not sure to what extent.

That's all I can think of for the moment, I'm sure there's more.
What are yours?

Patience and an ability to center myself when everything's going wrong.

Does traditional medicine making count as a trait? Because I'm pretty grateful for that one too. Can't remember the last time I bought cold medicine tbh.

I'm not sure about what traits I had in past life as I don't remember much but there are some good traits I have in this life such as creativity and problem solving which I seem to have inherited from my family in this lifetime. Unfortunately I also seem to have bad traits as well such a tendency to be emotional and temperamental.

Hm, traits, I don´t know - good question. I do appreciate the ability to approach people in a charming, casual way, being witty and humorous and usually make friends easily, but have to be in the mood to do so ;-) . On the other hand, my inner self which is me which is my last pls as well - needs time in solitude too, loves to read good books and get totally absorbed by them (though I´m very picky, there are only a few books I really enjoy to read and when I do I read them over and over again).
I do not like to be at partys or any kind of crowds.
I do not dance.
Love movies.
Like travelling and move on after a while.
I never managed to learn an instrument - but tried in every single life time to do so (piano, guitar, .. ) - impossible task for me and that´s a pity!
I play softball/baseball quite good, love to do it but hardly do in this life time. That´s a funny thing, just like playing pool, when I play I´m either almost playing like a pro or fail totally. One minute I´m unbelievable good and the other it´s a disaster. I remember this being like that in my pl as well, same feeling, same confusion about it. :D

Business management skills: I was a businessman in my past life. Now I am quite good at predicting how a new business will go and also come up with new ideas.

Glia21, you described me better than I could have except for the guitar part, but I wasn't all that good yet this time. I have no idea abut any prior lives though.

Java, I definitely don't have those skills!

:D yeah sure I am not the only one with these traits :D
But still it´s maybe a talent too to try to learn playing the piano for three (!!) years and failing to do so! I really wanted to learn it! I managed two melodies and it´s all gone by now… amazing!
