Synchronicity, or Telepathy?

The universe is such a startling place when we keep our eyes and ears open. My daughter and I are "kindred souls". I've been reading a series of novels that won't let me put the book down. She was on her computer in another room. I entered, and said, "I love the word "susurrus". For those who don't know, it refers to soft murmuring, as of leaves in a tree, or rustling taffeta. She started to laugh. She was on a website that defined words used in fiction that no one ever says out loud. The last word she read was "susurrus". Was it synchronicity, telepathy, or a little bit of both? At the very least, the coincidence illustrates the beauty and complexity of the universal tapestry.

Does that happen often between the two of you?

I think of telepathy more like a radio. Usually the person picking up the thoughts is not even aware they are picking up someone else's thoughts. I have a cousin who at age 12 would say word for word what I was getting ready to say before I even opened my mouth.

I think, cloudpotato, that you experience telepathy. With me, it's more the way argonne described. I experience it with people I'm very close to, and am not aware of the source of the thoughts. I'm not sure that I ever "send" - I am just a "receiver". As I think about it, the experience seems a little bit of both phenomena. Since I think of synchronicity as a signal that I'm on the "right" path, I wonder why the path sometimes feels so "wrong"? As I reflect, though, the synchronous events seem to come just at the points where I feel most discouraged. Someone, or something, has left a trail of breadcrumbs for me in the forest, like Hansel in the fairy tale. I think everyone receives these trail markers. They are more apparent once we are aware of them.

My mother and I are the same way.

Saying words at the same time.

Being my twin in a past life as well as my younger sister

    accounts from something.

This is sweet! My mom and I are the same way. A lot of times we'll be in different rooms or places, and then we'll talk about how we were thinking about the same thing at the same time.

Or I'll say something like, "You know what really makes me mad!" and she'll answer with exactly what it was, even though she shouldn't know what I was going to say.

And best is when we see or hear something and just start cracking up laughing with one another and every looks at us like we're insane.

I can't really answer your OP question, but I really appreciate strong mother-daughter bonds!

I've been finishing people's sentences, a lot latly cause I feel like I knew what they were going to say then they get caught up in there words and for some reason I just blurt them out. I've been right on the money to the point where people have asked me how I do that!! The really interesting ones though were the ones I thought I was thinking but someone says it word for word. I too think someone else was thinking it and I just picked it up. Both scenarios have been happening to me very very frequently latly. Ive only been able to do this a few times in my life but this time it hasn't stopped. My favorite time I've had with this is when me my wife and a friend start hanging out regularly, all three of us will just start thinking the same things to the point it just get hilarious. :)

Maybe synchronistic events occur when we sense a telepathic vibe? I tend to think these things work together to some extent...and maybe more than we imagine!

Telepathy is really cool. I consider more of an instinctual connection with someone or an animal. Lately it's interesting, all I have to do is think...I want to be more spiritually connected with animals, and it's starting to happen. I used to have a cat named Leo, but my dad forced me to give him away. I had a serious telepathic connection to him. I also made an animal familiar totem one year prior to adopting him from the shelter. I realized to my surprise I had named him after the totem I had forgotten. The animal was a spiritual protector, a small lion that could become my friend. Well Leo is orange with stripes, a big smile, and huge personality. I'm still in contact with the person I let adopt him from me, who also spoils him. I just worry about the cold and I want to make sure he's inside during the winter. She's building him a cat house though.

I've also rode horses, and I've developed more of a psychic connection over time. I remember riding a spunky white speckled horse who wasn't well trained, but I could stay on even when she'd get spooked by something.

And then last night my boyfriend's cat named Miracle was just snuggling with me like she'd known me forever. Miracle was rescued from drowning by my boyfriend and his mom.

Also, I've never been hit by a deer or seen a deer be aware of me. They either wait before they cross, or cross quickly if I come by. I feel that could be something since most people around here hit deer all the time.

I think my cat Leo misses me too. Like, EVERYONE loves him because I trained him so well. He always used the litter box, and Im not even sure if he was trained. (The previous owners adopted him for ONE DAY and then took him back because he was spraying). Well as soon as he got to my house he was comfortable, and he had a litter box and went right to it. He was really young when I adopted him, and he was shaking in the cage at the humane society. I immediately took one look at him, and said this is the cat who needs me. My parents were never into animals, so when I had my own house I was able to give him all the attention and not worry about putting him outside because I wanted him to be indoor/outdoor.

It's just hard to describe, but he has like this aura around him. I had so many offers for adoption as soon as I had to give him away. I've also had this ability with my bernese mt dog, although those dogs are naturally very sweet. She would nuzzle up to a toddler and they wouldn't be scared. Their supposed to be show dogs, but we loved to have her run around the farm.

Sorry I just rambled. I'm drinking coffee and felt like sharing.

A little over a year ago a Siamese cat "adopted" me. I think someone moved away and left her behind. She follows me everywhere. I think cats are attracted to me. I took her to the SPCA to have her spayed and they told me she was already. I keep her outside and got a "kitty house" with a heated bed. I think if males are neutered they won't spray. That's how they mark their territory.

My sister would get a tingling in a spot just above her ear, and she'd touch it and say "someone" was thinking of her. And she'd either see or hear from that person in a very short time.

I met several people in my early thirties at a class I took, whol became my close friends. But with one of them, it was different. She worked and had a busy family, and a very jealous husband, so we didn't see much of each other.

From the beginning we had this uncanny thing where we felt what the other was feeling. I'd be in the dumps and she'd call and ask what was the matter. I'd feel like a pulling from her, and would go to where she worked, and she'd say she had been really needing to see me for moral support. Her home life could get pretty rough sometimes.

And even when her family moved to another state it didn't end. One day I'd suddenly felt severe pain on one side of my face, and afterward a dull pain that stayed. A couple of days later her husband came to get some stuff they'd stored at our place, and said she hadn't come because she'd ran into a door and hurt the side of her face pretty bad. And I knew what had really happened.

I have had that happen with my children. I would "feel" they needed me, go to the school, and find them crying. My youngest and I always get injuries on corresponding parts of our bodies at the same time. For instance, if I have a sore left toe, her right is affected. With your friend, it sounds as if you had a very strong, past-life connected relationship. She may have been a close family member, or connection many times.

That past life connection may be true. I'd often wondered if we'd somehow been of the same soul that had split and became two people. That, I'm sure was just my weird mind working. We could have been identical twins though. She was only seven years old than me.

A lot of metaphysical writers call a divided soul "twin flames". You could have easily been twins at some point. I have wondered that about my daughter and myself. Have you ever tried doing a self-regression, Gypsy?

I've never thought about doing anything to learn of more past lives. The ones I've had seemed more than enough along with all the other things I've experienced over my lifetime, that would probably be considered in the paranormal range. And maybe that's what they are. I don't know.

I've had several other past life experiences that I haven't mentioned yet. I've known of regression under hypnosis, but never heard of self-regression. How does that work?

Well, many people use CDs produced by professional hypnotists, or therapists. We all have our favorites. Some people can self-regress in active meditation. I use both methods with success. The only place I experience spontaneous recall is in dreams, although sometimes I just "know". Be prepared if you try this, Gypsy, because you seem to be quite psychically "open". The litany of my lives is beginning to become confusing. It seems to be the last few that determine who we are in the present.

The past few days I've been running into synchronicity left and right.

I checked facebook right in the middle of reading an article (unusual for me) just as the first message from a friend I want to chat with arrived. She doesn't usually have much time, and I got to enjoy every minute of her availability. edit: She's also a bit of a specialist when it comes to ancient Japanese culture and collects history and books whenever she can, so she had a lot to say about my "episode of xenoglossy" and the related glimpses.

I called another friend and the first thing he said when he picked up the phone was, "Are you psychic or something?" I had thought about calling him a little earlier and decided to postpone for a bit. It turns out he was talking to someone else during that time and thought to himself, "I can't wait till I'm done here and can call her." Just as he started to dial, I called first.<-- This is the friend who set me off on research this January by calling me in the middle of a date with someone else (really out of character!) while I was trying to "reach" him in meditation. I'm here because of that moment ... heh!

Another acquaintance called me for the first time last night while I was talking about him. Though I knew he was coming to the area and might call for coffee, it was pretty incredible how he timed it.

It seems to be increasing in frequency, also related topics coming up in conversations with different people before I mention things ... but these three all happened last night!

Your feet are firmly planted on the "right" path. You are where, when, and who, you need to be! :)

I keep hearing phrases from the TV and from people just as I read them either online or in a book ... strange.

I have a 'new' friend. We sing together in a singing group. We are not close, but I feel a connection. Speaking of related injuries...this past Fall, she came to singing group with a music stand, and explained that her shoulder was giving her problems. Right around the same time, my opposite shoulder started giving me problems. (I think it had already been bothering me, and it wasn't the power of suggestion. ;) )

I wonder if we were siblings or have a past life family kind of connection. We both sing the same part and she kind of took me under her wing, as I was new to the goup in the Fall. When I am learning my part, she is the one I listen to, even though there are others singing the same part, it is like she keeps me on pitch, the best. LOL. I feel a connection with the whole group and that may just be a common interest thing, or maybe not. :)

Beth, that sounds like a really strong connection. Singing in a choir is a lovely metaphor for the way our souls blend with those we care for.

I think it was telepathy. My mother died almost 30 years ago, but I remember the strong spiritual link we had, and I still believe we have it now even though she is gone from earth. I could often tell what she was thinking and would say it out loud. She would often try to deny it then finally admit that's what she was thinking. She could do the same thing with me, but that could be because of mother's instinct. :)

I hope I can still be there for my daughter after I've moved on to the next "great adventure", Susie - just like your Mom is for you. :)
