Reincarnation and the Light

Hi -

Last night, before I went to bed - I was thinking about some questions a friend asked about past life recall; I wanted to explain it better. I came up with nothing I hadn't already said. So right before bed I asked spirit to show me in my dreams how I could explain what reincarnation was...I asked spirit to show me something in depth about how it works. Then I reworded it and asked..show me something about me...as it relates to what I am trying to share.

Well, I spent the whole night in my dreams talking to someone in depth about reincarnation, the visions, the experiences, the memories, the words surrounding the CONCEPT - the PREMISE of the whole idea, but upon reflection...they were just WORDS....that didn't do it either.

However, in the middle of the night - and in a deep sound sleep I became lucid and aware that I was looking at illuminous Golden and White LIGHT. It was not a reflective light but had that sort of intensity -as if bouncing back from a reflective surface, but it never stopped -it seemed to go on forever into deep space. I watched the Light for what seemed like forever..it was never ending, all present..there was no difference between me and the vision..there were no separation points between It and Me. The Light and I were interwoven as One. I was awake but in that inbetween state of consciousness.

The Light faded away and when I finally opened my eyes my room was pitch black...and it was 3:00AM.

Does this help me explain anything...not really -in fact I scrambled for the right words this morning and the more I tried to wrap the words around the experience...the more the magic of the experience faded.

So I guess I am back at square one. Or perhaps the message was -that past lives..and memories are not - "out there" somewhere in time -but within and in the Light. For me - Light and Consciousness are one in the same. mmmmmm now I have to think on that for a while.

Hi Deborah:D
Your lucid dream was very interesting to me. I have had many OBEs in my life (though I don't have them often,-- at least I don't "bring back" the memory of my astral travels very often)...I had an astral journey years ago that stands out in my mind and the golden light you mention sounds similiar to something I remember seeing just before my "dream" ended, and I woke up (came back into my physical body)...I don't have a complete memory of this OBE/dream, because I didn't write it down (I wish I had)...

I remember that I was way out in space somewhere with a few other people/souls on what seemed like a small planet. Everything around us was black except there was a firey glow which kind of reminded me of a campfire... We were all suppose to jump off the small planet, one by one into the blackness for some reason (I seem to remember it was to help us get over the fear of aloneness). I remember I had to be brave to jump off, but I did...In the second part of this OBE/dream, I was "up" in space somewhere, in blackness, but there was light around me because and I was this tremendous ball of fire. I had no fear of being this fire, (even though I could feel that it was burning very intensely and it was all consumming).

I felt an indiscribable beauty and completeness all through my "spirit/soul." I knew that I was with (and part of) my closest soulmate (or twin flame), and that the beautiful *powerful* "bond fire" we had become, was created by our union (*love*). I remember seeing this beautiful glowing, golden cord attached to me/us that was going out into the blackness..The cord I saw in my dream sounds a lot like the beam(?) of golden and white light that you describe in your vision...Not long after I experienced this awesome OBE/dream, I saw some plastic-coated golden electrical cord at the store and noticed that it looked a lot like the golden cord in my dream.

I believe light, consciousness, and God are within. --I believe they are at our very core. The physical world is the outside world I believe, (if there even is an inner and outer, LOL).

;)

Hi Deborah,

So maybe like words, past lives don´t ultimately do the trick...only formless
Truth will... (ultimately, that is, I´m not at all saying exploring past lives would be worthless in a time-bound learning process). You say "no separation points", yes, then what would be the most marked separation points for us...?, except- birth, death, birth, death, etc...

(Seeming) separation (firstly from the Whole and then also reflected in a multitude of "little" versions), I think, is the core of illusion. To go beyond separation or the point/s of separation would then be to go towards truth....(?)

Hi MiniWinkz,

"(if there even is an inner and outer, LOL)."

Yey!! That´s it... in my point of view. The original paradox.

I think that´s what Jesus was talking about when he said: " heaven [inner, "spirit-energy,"the subjective,] and earth [outer, "physical-energy", the objective] shall pass away but not my word"

His "word" = thought/being/expression of aware existence as Whole, Divine creation, Son/daughter of God, Christ, etc.

(yackety-yack-yack, etc.)

[edited: Here´s the correct qoute :
"heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away" Matthew 24:35. A statement of non-duality, I think. ]

I have been thinking on this. Shield you have made a very good point regarding this quote; "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away" I think that this statement is about vibration. Consciousness, is energy, vibration, & LIGHT.

Life is all VIBRATION.

The ancients knew this - it was at the root of some of the greatest mysteries. I did some research a while ago; The original WORD was spelled WYRD and means "to become, to be, that which is." In our becoming (reincarnating) we experience the world -- and as we evolve through incarnations..we become more aware of our source, our Being.

Quantum physicists are now suggesting that MATTER cannot exist without some form of consciousness to perceive it. Consciousness is the WYRD, the vibration that creates.

Perhaps when we discuss concepts around spiritual matters - like reincarnation, we cannot actually fully comprehend or express the idea. But when we experience it, - we merge with - become one with -the source of our Being. Perhaps in our need to describe everything by way of words....we loose sight of the WYRD, the experience.

Question,

I am curious how many of you experience inner light when doing meditations -- and regressions as you enter into past life experiences. For me, it seems to be such an important aspect -a doorway, an opening in order to go deeply into the memory of the time and place, the events of my past.

I also see Inner Light and the experience of it - as a window - a doorway, a passage way into past life memories as well as higher states of consciousness. I would love to hear from others who experience inner light when also experiencing past life memories. How important is this inner light to you??

There is a great book on the subject by Author Zajonc titled Catching the Light - The Entwined History of Light and Mind. He covers the importance of Light from ancient times -to Quantum physics -blending mythology, religion, science, literature, and painting. It is about the human struggle to identify the vital connection between the outer light of nature and the inner light of the human spirit. A GREAT Book. ;)

Brian Weiss brings up the topic of Light in his new book Same Soul Many Bodies. It was nice to know others experience this light when they do past life work. Do any new members?

Roger Woolger brings up inner light in his new book too. I am surprised that more people here do not talk about it.

Children talk about seeing light when they are small. They think everyone sees it. Some children remember past lives spontaneously. I wonder if there has been any research regarding the connections between inner light and past life experiences.

To me the light is everything. With the help of those here (Deborah....Kelly....you know who you are  ) the light led me into meditation, which in turn has led me into the most exciting journey I could ever have imagined.

Now the light comes to me when I don't have the time to visit it. This comes in the form of light in a dark room, or even small globes of light which I first saw after the death of an old friend in January.

Over the years since I first visited this forum and started my journey I've been looking into so many kinds of religions. And that light is universal it seems. It's just a shame we still have to argue over religion/spirituality when we're really all on the same journey, even if our paths look rather different.

At the moment the light is more active than ever. It seems to be pointing to something of huge significance going on around the world at the moment. So it would seem that if anybody wants to learn anything then this would be a very good time to start looking for answers.

Hi Gemini,

The more finely tuned - the closer to the source and light. All of which is within. I would like to quote Gary Zukov-

The Light that flows through our system is Universal Energy. It is the Light of the Universe. You give that Light form. What you feel, what you think, how you behave, what you value and how you live your life REFLECT the way you are shaping the light that is flowing through you.

They are thought forms, and feeling forms and the outer forms that you have given to Light. They reflect the configuration of your personality, your space-time being.

Gregg Braden, an earth scientist expresses very well the importance of Light and the Body as a Temple. He talks about our physcial body and our Light body in his books.

“It is within our body temple that the forces of the cosmos unite as an expression of time, space, spirit, and matter. More precisely, it is within the experience of time and space that the spirit works through matter to find the fullest expressions honoring life.”

And therefore, we; re-incarnate. :)

i just recently had a light experience. i have had two that i remember at the moment. both in visions, one i was a child, and woke from a sleep to see the dark sky to see a bright light coming towards me, it was an amazing vision as a child. as the light got closer the vision became clear, she came into focus, she was golden, light surrounding her, she had wings that spread out from both sides, i could see the individual feathers of gold, her halo, and her gown, i just do not even know how to explain it, she had like a rope tie of gold around her gown, and she just wow it was the most peaceful and wonderous experience a child could have. she then just disappeared. the light just faded away, i thought it was the sun rise at first but then it was dark, i was so inspired, and just well happy, but as a child would do, i told my firends and family and they thought i was nuts, so i do not speak about the vision to much.

then just last month, i meditated for the first time in months. and i saw what you described as a doorway. it was like i could see my thirnd eye open, i was standing at a wall it was black but there was a door, light shining under the doorway, it opened, and i could see the light, kinda like a triangle of light, like you would see looking into a tunnel. i felt it was a message, a door has opened for me, i am very eager for more info, but i am learning to be patient which is so very hard for me.

HI chelbear,

Thank you so much for sharing your childhood and recent experiences. Have you tried entering into the Light (door)? Next time it happens - move into it. I would be very interested to hear your experience.

I am excited that Woolger and Wiess mention the Light in their new books. SO many people look for memories outside of themselves - as if a memory and something long ago. But in my experience, it is within me...and in the NOW. It is not something in the past; once you enter the light it is the present moment.

I've seen the Light in many forms since I was a small child -- both in dreams and while awake. I've spoken about it a little with you Deborah, in some of the things I've shared recently. I've noticed a change in the *way* I see it lately -- it is brighter, more fluid in movement.

When I was smaller, I saw many different colors blending together. Now, I see mainly purple, blue and a golden-white color.

In my opinion, a Spirit does not reach its fullest potential until it knows intimately every detail about existence in all levels of space, time, dimension, form, and frequency of light. This would include remembrance of past lives. When merging with the Light, we cease to exist as a personality functioning on the level of consciousness as we know it. We bring all aspects of our selves -- past and present together.

This ability to be one with the Light is, in my understanding of it, the reawakening of the knowledge we've carried with us always. It’s a divine light, a divine attitude that we hold within us. The more conscious we are of the Light within us, the brighter it becomes.

Just my two cents ;)

Ailish

 Very wise words dear Ailish! I totally agree with you. :)

I also believe the LIGHT is about awakening... I've had some very interesting experiences lately, mostly in dreams. Last night i saw gold shining sparklets of LIGHT in the ocean, almost like raindrops... It was beautiful.
I was at the beach with a friend of mine and my dogs. I am still carrying the peace of that moment with me. :)

I should add that the last few weeks have been very important to my "reawakening". ;) I have been able to feel and recognize the LIGHT within several of my good friends and that has also helped me recognize and embrace it in myself. :)

In Light of Reincarnation

Hello Deborah

I have found that on an almost universal basis folks everywhere have had some experience of The Light and by REMEMBERING the FEELING of it they are able to often use the sensations as a way to guide meditations or dreams. I also have the experience that The Light is the Oness of the Divine at the end of the NDE "tunnel" that allows us the Peace or Enlightenment (objectivity) to return to this life or reincarnate with a deeper insight into what it means to be human and what a gift Incarnation can be. I hope that this info is enjoyable and useful.

When I was a child in this lifetime, there was a period of several mornings as my mother called me to wake up, a very large book was presented to me and I read it by a golden light. I could keep the image in my mind and keep reading until I opened my eyes. Has anyone had an experience like this? I never understood what the words meant. I don't think this is the light you are talking about in this thread. Sorry for getting off topic.

More on us as light:

“We are motes of dust dancing within [the] Light which surrounds us everywhere. More, it pervades us through and through. We are but moments of that Light: it is our very Self. Inside and outside we are nothing but that Light; even our outer structure is the impress of its thought, and it is for this reason that, in actual truth, man is the measure of all things and contains within himself — even within his physical body — all the wonders of the universe.... The Father-Light shines in the Son ... it shines in the minds of men, and it shines in every particle of matter.... If we look at the world in one way, we see the varied forms of being dancing in its Light, and if we look at it the other way, we see the divine Light standing in the forms. It is this paradox which makes it so difficult for us to understand ourselves....”

Man, the Measure of All Things, by Prem & Ashish, pp. 171 & 178.

Here is a connection between light and reincarnation.

“This is the journey of the Spark [of light]: into form, through form, and finally beyond form. It travels through Time and Space, descending from Spirit into Matter and ascending again to Spirit in its long pilgrimage of self discovery.” (p. 328).

Do I ever, where to start. Probably with what I believe was a NDE in the form of a visitation. 30-35 years ago, I was in a comma for five days, if I recall correctly. While in the comma the room glowed as pure white as is possible. My deceased mother appeared at bedside, and told me I would not die, my life's purpose was not complete. When I came out of the comma, that visitation was all I thought about. I would have shrugged it off except that my mother died with us on extremely horrible terms. For her to visit me, she had to have a very important message.

Twelve years later, my dad suffered a massive stroke and I was the only person available to care for him the next seven years. Purpose complete? I wondered, as I tried to stay busy. Now I'm here, learning and hopefully offering support, advice, and the knowledge of my experience. New purpose!

But aside form that, I've had flashes of the brightest, softest, and purest yellow and blue light as long as I can remember. Until now, I figured it was part of life long vision problems, except that unlike my other vision issue which cause discomfort and stress to my eyes, these flashes never caused any stress or discomfort. All of these flashes come while I'm awake.

But there's more. I've meditated 45-50 years, and sometimes, when I have focused inward and feel a spiritual connection, I am gifted with a soft white/blue glow. So I'm wondering, besides the light that we receive from outside ourselves, possibly, when we are spiritually attuned, the light is within us, waiting for us to release it.

John

HI JohnR.

It has been noted by some of the most important figures in metaphysics and paranormal phenomenon, that the light experienced by NDE's does not behave like the light studied by physicists. Arthur Zanjoc notes in his book Catching the Light - the Intertwined History of Light and Mind, that, "The light within is of a different order than the objects found without:...this inner light seems to be omnipresent and eternal, exiting outside of time and space."

John Mack's book, Passport to the Cosmos is filled with stories of the Blue Light and one woman (Karin) says,

"This huge Light lives inside of me. It doesn't ever leave my body. It resonates in every fiber of every cell. It's always there. Do you know what telepathy is? People say it's the ability to hear somebody's thoughts, like you can hear inside their head.

But that's not what telepathy is. It's resonation...This light sends out this blue energy, this blue emotion, this blue connection to the universe. I'm connected to it....if you can imagine a blue beam coming from the depths of the universe. It's all around us. It's inside us. It's everything."

In the book The Isaiah Effect, by Gregg Braden, I found interesting reflections regarding Light. Braden states:

“In an ever changing view of creation, many scientists now believe that all we know as our world is ultimately made of the same substance, tiny packets of light (quanta) vibrating at different speeds. Some light vibrates so slowly that it appears as rocks and minerals.

Other forms of light vibrate more rapidly to appear as the living material of plants animals, and people, while even faster vibrations make up our television and radio signals. Ultimately, each may be reduced to the quality of vibrating light.” (pg 99)

I think the study of Light in the future - will prove to be the way to our understanding more fully - who we are. For me, the Light I experience within - means I already AM the Light. It's just a matter of become more aware and open. For me - it isn't "out there" or something other - than myself.

Taking Things Lightly

Hello Folks
I hope everyone is well. As someone who has used theological language over the years I have noted that like any human phenom folks respond diffrently to choices of words. The Light to me personally has a more powerful effect of emotion and feeling than the use of the word God, so it maybe to some folks an entirely different question or answer depending on the response. The Light vs God is almost the differences noted between traditional Christianity, Gnosticism, Bhuddism or even the the Jewish rendering of G-d. Simply put to reframe a question in light of (and respect) for multiple spiritual cultures and the different cultures found in different threads is an effort to allow another way to veiw the wide range of talent, intelligence, cultural wisdom, and folks who visit here in the forum. I feel that The Light is a core experience that folks from all cutures have some experience of and my post is simply an invitation to share those stories in light of our mutual interest of reincarnation. It is those personal stories and sharings here in the safe space of the forum that is one of the more moving experiences that I find personally Soul restoring. I hope to post some of my own stories here soon.

When it comes down to the subatomic level, all matter in the universe is comprised of light and vibration. I think Deborah quoted Gregg Braden asserting that all matter is comprised of packets of light vibrating at various frequencies.

This relationship between light and vibation makes sense to me in terms of my experience with light during meditation, visualizations, listening to music, reading, writing, painting and just spontaneously when I'm doing none of the above.

I FEEL more than SEE light in the form of vibrations, at times so powerful I'm overcome until I feel no difference between myself and the air in the room - everything disappears and yet, everything is simply one. It's as if I've turned INSIDE OUT but this "inside" space doesn't seem smaller in any way. It's vaster, richer, deeper - just seeming MORE. It's a "whole" version of me but, again, so much MORE.

Since I was a child, I've been far better at feeling this light than seeing it. But lately, I've been seeing it at the same time - this is how I have associated the FEELING with the visual experiences of light.

It doesn't come as naturally to me as it does to most of you who've posted here  but when I do see what I consider my inner light, it comes out in tongues of the most brilliant blue I've ever seen, sometimes woven with flashes of gold. Sometimes tendrils snap out with such clarity and force, it shocks me; others it's simply all blended together and spread, almost gauze-like. Still at others, I've seen stars or sparkles, beams and even crescent moons or triangles a few times.

Specific to past life experiences, I've SEEN my body comprised entirely of LIGHT in constant flux, an iridescent light (sort of the like the inside of an abalone shell) with a purplish blue core before fully entering a memory. It acted as sort of a bridge between lives. I've FELT a huge surge of inner light during spotaneous healing brought about from experiencing PL memories - among the most intense of my life.

I would agree that this light is a vital element to the way I experience my spirituality and remembering past lives. It may even be WHERE my memories are stored - not surprisingly, because I feel this light is one expression of my soul, THE soul even. Spirit. A "higher" consciousness - for lack of a better term - with access to "higher" faculties difficult to grasp in our more common state of consciousness. :)

I found an interesting reference last night. Inner light is rarely talked about in books - usually just in passing. The following brought a smile to my face and helped me put my own experiences into context. :) I hope others find it as interesting as I do. : angel

Then one night as I was falling asleep, I noticed a faint blue glow. My eyes were closed, and at first glance I thought it was just an afterglow from the bedroom lights, the kind you see when a photo flash goes off in your eyes. But this was different. The blue I was seeing felt magnetic. I couldn't keep my attention off of it. Then I opened my eyes in the dark, and the whole room was filled with the same blue glow. There were sparkles or flecks of gold in it.

I told Kate that this was not an uncommon experience for Yoginis. She was perceiving the light that emanates from the subtle level of perception. I asked her how she felt.

"Soothing. Safe. But mostly the light was fascinating. It drew me in until I felt I could gaze at it forever." Which shows, I said, that you were being fascinated by your own awareness. The soul it is said, shows itself to our subtle senses as a pearlescent glow. -- Deepak Chopra

Deborah, it's so funny that you post that this morning because I had an a strikingly similar experience last night as I went to sleep.

I thought this hazy gold and blue dancing of lights behind my eyelids was just an afterglow of the streetlight outside my bedroom window playing on the blue walls of my darkened room before I drew my curtains closed and settled into bed. But the light seemed different - actually alive and even with a consciousness the way it moved toward me.

I don't usually open my eyes during these experiences but I felt compelled to do so and when I did, the entire room was bathed in light separate from the small sliver of sodium light coming in through the space above my curtains. This sounds strange but the goldish light sort of coalesced (sp?), coming to rest upon the right side of my chest and upper abdomen into what looked like a blurry figure of a smiling buddha, sitting crosslegged. He was anywhere from about 2 1/2 to just under 3 feet tall sitting down. I smiled back and he closed his eyes and faded slowly, taking the bluish background light with his golden one.

It's strange to me, since I don't usually have such vivid experiences when I'm as busy every day of the week like I am right now. It's stranger still that you wrote this post this morning. That makes me smile, too, and I sincerely thank you for doing so today. :)

Thank you Chansa for taking the time to share your experience. You have expressed it very well, and I always enjoy reading your posts. I hope that the information I share on the forum is helpful to others. Sometimes people read and never post -so it's hard for me to tell.

It seems you have gone from being a person who is sensitive to sound and vibration - to - the expansion of that vibration into Inner Light.

One of the indicators that Inner Light is being experienced is that it is as powerful with the eyes closed - as it is with the eyes open. For me, it is at that point that I realize - I am not seeing the Light with my eyes. ;). It is bigger than me, more than me and yet - the very essence of me.

Thank you for sharing that passage, Deborah. I always love reading about others experiences with Light. Like you said – it rarely discussed except in passing, and often the depth of personal experience is left out of many of the writings on the subject. ;)

Then I opened my eyes in the dark, and the whole room was filled with the same blue glow. There were sparkles or flecks of gold in it.

That really jumped out at me – it is very close to what I experience. I believe I’ve already shared these experiences with you, but I wanted to share them here as well.

I usually wake up in the middle of the night – when I do, quite often there is Light in the room. I’ve described it many times as being "Little blue and white sparkles on the ceiling -- and in the corners of the room." Sometimes the room is bathed in a blue Light – at other times it is white, with flecks of blue. At yet other times – it has purple in it as well.

I found a quote by a Radhaswami Guru that I felt complemented the passage by Deepak Chopra:
"We may see the same sparks of light that look something like the "fireflies" or "sparks" which are described by yogis in the Hindu Upanishads, see shimmering light, stars, lights of various colors, or other visions of Light. At first there will be only darkness but eventually Light will appear in the form of either small flashes or small star-like points. -- Yogani Mata Ji

The Light isn't always like little stars, though. I also see many triangles, and intricately woven patterns when I am focused inwards.

The blue I was seeing felt magnetic. I couldn't keep my attention off of it.

Several times I have been woken up by the intensity of the Light in my room. It often feels like a magnetic pull, drawing me from slumber into waking consciousness. I don’t have to open my eyes to see it – I am aware of its presence as I am waking. I always end up opening my eyes and sneaking a peek though, before I turn over and go back to sleep. I find it exudes a comforting warmth. ;)

I think it’s also interesting to note – that being in contact with certain people also heightens and intensifies the Light experience – at least for me. I have several friends – that seem to “magnify” and “reflect” the Light at times, making it even brighter when I am near them.

I did a meditation on September 23rd and I will share the part about the Light as I wrote it in my journal --

The Light was intense and immediate and ever so bright. Large circular spinning orbs of blue Light on top of a white background. I immediately felt a twitching sensation in my third eye area – which sometimes I get – and sometimes do not. The twitching intensified to a point of almost pain -- but my forehead felt like it was swirling in motion itself.

The Light changed – it was almost complete darkness with millions of twinkling little Lights surrounding me (like when you get dizzy and ‘see stars’). This lasted only for a few seconds – they started swirling counter-clockwise around me, faster and faster -- and then I was standing in a room of white marble.

I often wake the day after an intense Light experience – feeling totally energized from within. It’s hard to explain in words – but it’s like every cell in my body is humming and vibrating. I can feel the flow of energy coursing through my body. It’s also as if all of my senses are heightened – I have more of an awareness of the things going on around me. Everyday noises – seem louder, the colors of the trees and flowers seem brighter, more vibrant.

I often wonder – if others who see Light also experience this inner energy and if they are aware of the affect on their physical body afterwards. : angel

My Chiropractor has the water massage tables that seem to magnify inner experiences when I lay on them. I get intense Inner Blue Light immediately - sometimes I get glimpses of past lives.

Is it the water? The total relaxation? I know how to meditate -but why this table in a public area? As soon as I lay down WHAMMMMMMMMMM. Bright Blue light.

I am wondering if the water is the magnifier - anyone else? The blue looks just like the bright blue in this image -
images
but engulfs my whole inner vision and pulsates.

I've never been to a chiropractor, but interestingly enough I came across some articles just the other day! Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. has some fascinating articles on chiropractics on his website. :)

In one of them he says:

Current cell and molecular biology research is now revealing what has been missing in medical philosophy, and in the process, is precipitating a revolution in conventional science. New insights provided in the fields of epigenetics, evolution mechanisms and quantum physics, collectively emphasize the role of energy, environment and mind in controlling life. What was metaphysical is now becoming "science." In fact, the "new" science is a virtual readout of the old chiropractic philosophy!

I reviewed the 1895 edition of The Science, Art and Philosophy of Chiropractic, by D. D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic. Though I had to muddle though the thick verbiage characteristic of authors in the 1800's, I was completely taken by surprise, for Palmer's philosophy was almost identical to what I had learned from my stem cell experiments. Even though Palmer's work preceded Einstein's seminal research by 10 years, it emphasized the role energy vibrations, harmonics, and signal transduction in the operation of the human body... information that is still not fully understood in modern medicine. Rather than blaming dysfunctions on the body, Palmer recognized that our biology is capable of self-healing, that dis-ease was not an inherent consequence of a fragile biology. Chiropractic emphasized that dysfunctions are primarily attributable to trauma, toxins and thought.

Just thought I'd share.......

This morning i was laying awake in my bed, so i decided to put on the Divine Name cd. It wasn't very long before i began to see light of all different shapes and colors. There were "blobs" of green light, then there was dark pinkish red blobs, and they were pulsating, rippling around the edges as they expanded and then shrunk down to a pinpoint of brighter light. The other blobs of light seemed to be vibrating, and some "flipped over", before exploding outwards like some huge firework.

Then something i've never experienced before. I suddenly was aware of myself beginning to snore...  , even though i "felt" wide awake. The snoring snapped me back awake, and for a few seconds, i could see "nothing", but crystal clear, absolutely razor sharp, a bit like seeing through a murky river to the bed, there's nothing to see, but it was so crystal clear it was like being able to make out every individual grain of sand, it's so difficult to explain and i expect you're reading this with a puzzled expression on your faces, but that's the best way i can describe it, and this happened twice.

What i want to know, is what was i seeing? People have suggested that i try and move into the light. I was aware of this, and i tried to visualize myself going towards it and into it, but nothing happens. Am i trying too hard? I really don't know what to do with it, and it's so frustrating. And can anyone relate to the razor sharp images of "nothing" that i saw? It was like looking up at the night sky on a clear night, and suddenly having a filter removed from in front of my eyes, and seeing millions upon millions of stars, except the stars were inverted and they were dark instead of light.

Sorry if none of it makes sense, i've tried to describe it as best and as accurately as i can. But i don't know what to make of it all. I'm still not totally convinced that what i'm actually seeing is light. It's been there all my life, and i thought it was something that everyone sees, so i've never questioned it, neither to myself or anybody else, i always thought it was just some visual thing to do with my optic nerve or something like that.

How can i find out that the light that i see, is the same light that some of you see? Or whether it is just some kind of optical illusion? Or is it something that you just "know"?

Chris...*confused* ...thanks for reading.

I believe what you experienced is getting into - or realizing you are in - an altered state of consciousness. And mostly, when you realize it - you snap out of it. I think I experienced this 'going inward' - or 'expanding your awareness' - (whatever it can be called) in 3 ways that are similar to your experience, however, when I describe them, they look totally different

1. Like you, a razor sharp vision of details - even details of nothing.

2. A weird one - that I call 'being in the world of cubes'. It's an odd feeling - like my spirit is hovering in the air and I perceive everything in other perspective.

3. A sudden feeling of 'Light' surrounding you, and time seems to go in slow motion, and everything around you that you are not focused on, is not so bright and sharp. This usually happens in situations where I see or feel danger, like when I once saw a small child going down a slide in the water, lots of kids at the bottom of the slide and one with a large plastic crocodile; I knew the child would land under the crocodile and not be able to rise above the water (the water was not clear also, as it was an outside place with sand/mud stirred up constantly by the playing children). At that moment,

my immediate environment seemed brighter than the rest of the world, time slowed down, sound became murmur, and the moment I saw the child go under, I had my focus on that place, grabbed her arm and pulled her up. Then my vision became normal again.

Thanks Eevee, i'm glad somebody knew what i meant about the sharp visions of "nothing"... ;) ..and yes, it is the realization that snaps me out of it. How do i overcome that? Sometimes, when i meditate, i can go straight into my memories without a problem, but other times i start seeing things like i described in my earlier post, and i find it very difficult to stay focussed on those, perhaps i could see more than the "brief flashes" that i get if i could overcome this?

Well, Chris, since I also have the experience of 'snapping out at the moment of realization', I cannot control this either :)

But I have result sometimes - if not at that specific moment, than certainly afterwards- by using the technique of 'freeze frame' (there is a thread somewhere about this). This is rather easy for me, and I can't explain why. The thing is, when you see an image or scene, stay focused on one particular image, keep it in your mind until it froze there, and observe cautiously until you have 'seen' every detail of the picture. Then try to expand, like a movie that proceeds, but very slowly, one movement/change at the time. After a while, the image expands into a complete scene, and besides what I 'see', I also get the 'knowing' of other specifics of that life.

This doesn't always work at the moment itself, as I said before, but even if you only get a flash, you can 'memorize' that flash and use the technique I just described to prolong it. For me it works. After a while it will probably become easier to 'freeze frame' at the moment the memory occurs.

About the Light....I don't know how to go 'in'....Sometimes when I see Light, suddenly I am just in it, but mostly It just goes away. I don't know a technique to go into the Light, I think when one tries too hard, it doesn't work, I think the secret is 'letting it happen'.....which I admit I don't master....so I can be of no help here....

I am curious how many people experience inner light when doing meditations and/or regressions. I see Inner Light and the experience of it - as a window - a doorway, a passage into higher states of consciousness and past lives. I would love to hear from others who experience inner light. How important is this inner light to you??

Side note: Seeing inner light is not required to experience a past life memory.
