lack of numerous PLs

I have noticed that so very many here have many very vivid past life memories, and I have to admit that I am feeling rather deficient. Is my lack of any memories other than the one that I continuously, and seemingly endlessly talk about significant? Is there research or writings as to why some of us have clear recall of many previous lives and some of us (or am I alone here?) only have access to one?

I do have emotive responses to certain aspects of history, but no memories (other than when I saw the temple of Nike in Athens, I did have a very strong association of familiarity, that I had stood there before, looking out to the sea, but no hard core memory). Is this lack of memories due to my not being able to effectively meditate with out getting distracted? Or is there something more significant? AM I BLOCKED?:(

Would really welcome all of your thoughts.

I feel the same way too, Archival. I have memories of one life only, the rest are just feelings, 'pulls' and a few inconsistent flashes :) The consistent memories I have only arose, because they were shared memories with Karoliina and the conversations with her triggered a lot of things :)

I blame it on my short history of reincarnation research. I haven't developed a really satisfying technique of meditation and I haven't tried to regress yet. Of course I don't know your history of reincarnation research, but these are the reasons why I think my memory is so fragmented :)

Hi Archival,

I have noticed that so very many here have many very vivid past life memories, and I have to admit that I am feeling rather deficient.
Please – do not think that people who remember more past lives are in any way better than anyone else. I think it’s important to remember that some people on this board have been actively working on meditation and past life recall for over 20 years. ;)

It is a process – and it can be very slow going at times. Personally – I have lives I remember with great clarity and others that are simply little bits and pieces here and there.

I do have emotive responses to certain aspects of history, but no memories (other than when I saw the temple of Nike in Athens, I did have a very strong association of familiarity, that I had stood there before, looking out to the sea, but no hard core memory
Emotional responses to particular places – things we are drawn to, countries and cultures we feel kinship with – can all be clues to our past lives. ;) Imo – it’s good to make a list of these things for future reference. It may give you some insight about where to start looking :)

Is this lack of memories due to my not being able to effectively meditate with out getting distracted?
Not necessarily – there are other ways to receive past life memories, such as in dreams or through spontaneous recall.

Do you keep a dream journal? Often our dreams – especially ones containing emotional content – will yield clues to our past lives. Have you read the thread How can I learn about my past lives? It’s a good one – and it offers some ideas on how to go about it.

Meditation can also be difficult – and for some people requires a little more “practice.” I would suggest exploring – trying different things and seeing what works for you. Everyone is different – and what works for one person, may not work for another – it’s really all about finding what makes you comfortable and going with it :D

Have you ever tried a heart-centered meditation? Learning to access – and go within your heart center can be a very powerful experience ;)

Best of luck on your journey,

Aili

Everything posted in response makes sense. I am glad that I am not the only one brand new to this.

I am not upset nor panicked with my lack of several PL's (or rather clear memories, or even hints, since I truly believe that we go through many lifetimes), but I am really curious to why I don't seem to have access to them. I am beginning to think, as several of you have suggested, that I am new to the exploration and investigation process... and maybe my pull of this last PL (brothers and drowning) has hindered any other recall, but once I pass through it, others may come.

I don't think those who have several PL recalls are better, but I sure do envy them! Is it possible that this is only my second life? Could explain why I seem to be so naive to the actions, desires, and motivations of others. I can see it, just not really understand it.

I think making a list and starting to get somewhat organized is a great idea! I have started sketches of how I remember the pier from PL. I think a visual and written journal will prove to be a great help.

In your first post in the "camping thunderstorm" topic, I have noticed several very intense threads interlinked with one another. They remind me so much of some of my past memories.
Axel, I would be curious to hear what you think. Feel free to send pm.

As soon as I post this, I am going to read thread on 'how can I learn about my past lives'. Thanks for the tip.

I have done some investigation/research into the clues I have with the two brothers, and have found two newspaper articles (both related to the same drowning) on the drowning of two brothers, which fit what I remember, but am unable to find any more history, such as number of siblings, family, original place of birth, or even where they are buried. This is in Arlington, VA, and I am thinking that I may plan a trip to do a little bit of research, and think of it as a small vacation.

Would really enjoy hearing how you all have found the PL you remember.

Cheers.

Hey Archival! I agree with the others, you are new to the exploration of reincarnation (So am I) but sooner or later you'll start to receive more memories. It just takes patience and you yourself must be ready to handle the memories that come at you. For example; you might be able to handle a happy memory better than a sad one, so you might get the happy memory. I believe that when we are ready for the memories, then and only then do we get the ones we need to learn from the past.

I agree that you should keep a journal, and read the meditation tips thread. You might try asking for other lives at the start of meditation, or if you believe in spirit guides you might try asking yours to help you remember other memories. Even try listening to calming sounds or music (I just picked up this great sound machine/ alarm clock for $10, its just one from a convenience store but there are cds, and other machines that are better but they get more expensive.) I find that music and these calming sounds speak to the soul and help you remember certain memories (like mine of Renee and her grandpa who both loved jazz music in the '20's)

archival...who knows why these things come to us as they do. It seems to me, like Quintessence said it could be an issue in your current life. I am not too sure the parallel life theory... but who knows for sure?

I know of three lives. One, is the burning issue that surfaced over the years and eventually led me to the PLForum. My thread on it is here. As a result I sought out professional assistance, being the skeptic I was. I went through regression therapy with a wonderful doctor I found through the IARRT. There I learned of another much more ancient. The recall under hypnosis was incredible...shocking almost. The third life was one I think I've always "just known." In time perhaps I'll talk more about it...now its a private thing. I too have wondered why I don't GET more memories in meditation. But again, maybe my timing is off. I've kinda just learned to trust the whole cosmic program...and kinda go with the flow. I would recommend a professional regressionist if you are so inclined.

Good luck,

Focus on Now

Archival - Hi there - as usual I agree with Tinkerman.

I've kinda just learned to trust the whole cosmic program...and kinda go with the flow. I would recommend a professional regressionist if you are so inclined.
Trust is like having faith. We have to have faith that everything is unfolding now as it should (because it is). Flowing with the Now is a challenge to our analytical mind because we want answers now. I recently watched a movie I thought was wonderful called "Thumbsucker." The main message is about "living without the answer." It takes guts and faith and flow to do that - and a huge helping of acceptance.

I'm sure there's a valid reason why you aren't clued into more past lives. In my experience, we only clue into the ones that connect significantly to this particular life. We're always working on righting karma and becoming free in our mindset. If knowing about a past life will help that cause, you'll experience it. If not, you probably won't. Not all PLs have strings hanging; the karma is finished and they're non-issues. You learned from them, but they're not actively requiring healing.

We come in with a plan to heal the karma from some lifetimes - not all.

Tinkerman - I'd love to hear about the ancient lifetime. :)

Archival - Happy wanderings -- M.

It is important to realise that having any past life memories at all is something that only a minority of the population (certainly in our culture) seems to have. Some people might have past life memories, but not know what it is, but the majority who remember anything usually remember only one life, usually the most recent or most dramatic. And, like yourself, they usually don't put that down to a past life memory either, they think of it as imagination or 'just a dream'.

Personally I have always just remembered things, from childhood. When age 5 hearing the bagpipes for the first time I had a vivid recall of a battle field, blood, smoke, screams, fighting. adrenalin - it seemed perfectly normal to me at the time and did not frighten me or anything, although I had obviously never seen a real battle in this life. But that is really quite rare. Most kids stop remembering once they get to be 7 years old or so, but I just kept on going. When I was a child I thought everybody had these elaborate 'fantasies' about events occuring in the past as I did very frequently. recognising people and so on. I gradually realised this was not the case and learned to keep quiet about it.

Reading this forum and the stories of the few of us who have this odd ability, you could get the impression that it is more common than it is. I don't know what the stats would be, but I would think it would be something like less than 1 in 1000.

I no longer have any doubt that my memories are of a past life (those regarding the two brothers and drowning), which puts me now right back where I was when I was very small and would recall all of this with clear memory. But I do have to agree that I might be like the majority (in the small minority of those who have recall) that my memories only connect with the most recent PL.

I am not sure if it is due to lack of PLs or that this most recent PL still has a very strong connection to my present life. And as I read the responses and other posts, I wonder if I even need to worry about it. One thing at a time, so to speak.

If there are more PLs within me that I am not touching upon, I think that it is because I am still very connected to this most recent PL, or perhaps other PLs have little relevance to 'me' now. I guess I need to figure out why before any more progress is reached. And, I still intend to continue the journal. We shall see.

The concept of parallel life is interesting and I will give that some thought.

Regardless of the limits or limitlessness of it all, it still is very exciting, isn't it?

Tinkerman, I meant to express my thanks, and my genuine interest in your experiences and memories. What ever you wish to share, I would be very interested in reading.

I am beginning to think that help in my process would be a good avenue to take. But, as I am sure you know, here in the midwest, pickins are slim. Any thoughts or suggestions?
